Big news for central employees and our ex-servicemen, treatment rates have changed, now they will get better facilities.
News India Live, Digital Desk: The disease does not come without warning, and when it comes, the biggest fear is not “What is the disease”, but it is “How much will be the expense and trouble in the treatment?” If you or someone in your household is a Central Government Employee or a retired Ex-Serviceman from the defense sector, then this news can bring a smile on your face. The Central Government has taken an important decision regarding health services, which is going to have a direct impact on the beneficiaries of CGHS (Central Government Health Scheme) and ECHS (Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme). The government has revised the rates of treatment under these schemes. What is this matter after all? Let us understand it in simple language. What used to happen was that the government had fixed old rates for the treatment of diseases and hospital expenses. Due to rising inflation, private hospitals were reluctant or refused to provide treatment at those old rates. Our elderly pensioners and ex-servicemen were most troubled by this. They used to face difficulty in getting cashless treatment in good hospitals. How will ECHS people get the benefit? According to the latest update, the government has now approved the revised package rates of CGHS for ECHS beneficiaries also. Hospitals will not refuse: Since now the government will pay the hospitals at new and better rates in exchange for treatment, empaneled private hospitals will not be able to refuse to admit patients. Better facilities: When the rates are good, Hospitals also provide good service. This means that now the hassles of standing in queue or getting ‘referred’ will be reduced. They have got the green signal. The Department of Ex-Servicemen Welfare of the Ministry of Defense has issued an order that the new CGHS rates will also be applicable to all ECHS empaneled hospitals. This is a sigh of relief for millions of families who are completely dependent on this scheme for their health needs. What are the rates changed? Although the list is quite long, but mainly in things like doctor’s consultation fees, ICU charges and room rent, changes are often made from time to time so that they are in line with today’s inflation.
