To promote clean energy, Army included bio-diesel in the fuel supply chain, General Pushpendra Pal Singh gave the green signal.

New Delhi. A major step has been taken towards promoting clean energy and supporting the green initiatives of the Government of India. The Indian Army today officially included biodiesel in its fuel supply chain. In the launch ceremony held in New Delhi, Vice Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Pushpendra Pal Singh flagged off the first consignment. On this occasion, senior Army officers including Quarter Master General, Director General of Supply and Transport and Subhankar Sen, Director (Marketing), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited were present.

The occasion coincided with the 265th Corps Day of the Army Service Corps. This historic initiative marks the beginning of the Army’s transition to environmentally responsible fuel alternatives. Its objective is to reduce carbon emissions and strengthen long-term energy sustainability. The introduction of bio-diesel is in line with the National Biofuel Policy and further strengthens the Army’s commitment to incorporate eco-friendly measures in its logistics and operational framework. The Armed Forces have adopted E-20 petrol from December 1, 2025, which will further advance their green mobility efforts. Speaking at the event, the Vice Chief of the Army Staff praised BPCL’s support and collaboration and said the initiative reflects a common vision for a greener, more energy-secure future. He emphasized that with the large mobility requirements of the Indian Army, the adoption of sustainable fuel solutions will significantly support the country’s clean energy goals. The Indian Army continues to lead the nation in building initiatives and this progressive step further reflects its commitment to environmental stewardship, innovation and responsible resource management.
