George Kurien Highlights Educational and Skill Development Initiatives for Minority Communities:
The Minister of State for Minority Affairs George Kurien has formally announced that the central government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has spent a substantial amount of money on the welfare of minority communities over the last eleven years. While sharing the details of the expenditure the minister revealed that the Centre has utilized a total of 7641 crore rupees for various development schemes aimed at empowering these sections of society. This data was presented to counter the narratives suggesting a lack of support for minorities and to showcase the administration’s commitment to inclusive growth. Kurien emphasized that the government has strictly followed the philosophy of development for all without any discrimination ensuring that benefits reach the last person in the queue.
A major portion of this financial allocation was directed towards the education sector to improve literacy rates and academic opportunities. The minister highlighted that scholarships were a key focus area with the government providing financial assistance to over five crore students from minority backgrounds. This initiative was designed to reduce dropout rates and encourage higher education among the youth. In addition to educational support the ministry has also invested heavily in skill development programs to enhance employability and economic self reliance. Infrastructure development in minority concentration areas was another priority where funds were used to build schools hospitals and community centers.
George Kurien stated that these figures reflect a transparent and results oriented approach unlike the tokenism of the past. The consistent funding over the last decade demonstrates that the welfare of Muslims Sikhs Christians Buddhists Parsis and Jains remains a central agenda for the government. By focusing on education and skills the administration aims to integrate these communities into the mainstream of the nation’s progress journey. The minister assured that the government will continue to launch and fund schemes that foster the socio economic upliftment of all minority groups in the coming years.
