Team India sanctioned for Slow Overrate in Raipur ODI

Team India has been fined 10 per cent of the match fee for maintaining a slow over rate against South Africa in the second ODI in Raipur.

According to Article 2.22 of the ICC Code of Conduct for players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to minimum over-rate offences.

Each of the players was fined five per cent of their match fees for every over their side fails to bowl in the allotted time if sanctioned.

KL Rahul was captaining India after nearly two years, did the job well, winning the ODI series 2-1 in the South Africa tour of India 2025. However, he did take some extra time in the second ODI in setting fields and his interactions with the bowlers, given how rampaging South Africa got in the latter half of the chase.

Aiden Markram’s century did anchor the innings before the likes of Dewald Brevis, Marco Jansen and Corbin Bosch troubled Indian bowlers in the latter half of the innings and eventually ended up chasing down 359 runs.

Dew played a major part in the second half of the innings, as Men in Blues lacked control and Proteas batters crashed in.

India finally won the toss in the 3rd ODI and final ODI, breaking their 20-match toss-losing streak since the 2023 ODI World Cup.

The Men in Blues bowled out South Africa for just 271 runs, and knocks from Rohit Sharma, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Virat Kohli secured a 9-wicket win for India.

Both sides will be meeting in the T20I series starting on December 09 at Barabati StadiumCuttack.
