Indigo Flight Crisis: Government action against Indigo, order to reduce flights by 10 percent

Indigo Flight Crisis: The troubles of Indigo, the country’s largest airline, are not showing signs of ending. The trend of flight cancellations continues for the eighth day today. Today more than 400 flights have been cancelled. Maximum flights have been canceled from Bengaluru. So far this month, more than 4,500 IndiGo flights have been cancelled. Meanwhile, the central government is in a mood to take strict action against Indigo. During the high level meeting of the Civil Aviation Ministry, instructions were issued to reduce the airline’s flights by 10 percent. The ministry has given this information on social media platform X.

Along with this, the Civil Aviation Ministry also said that they should return the refund and luggage to the passengers as soon as possible. The ministry said that it is necessary to cut Indigo’s routes. IndiGo CEO Peter Elbers met Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu. During this, Indigo CEO Peter Elbers was seen with folded hands in front of the Aviation Minister.

Schedule to be submitted to Indigo

This 10 percent cut has gone to flights on high-demand, high-frequency routes. This will affect IndiGo’s 2300 flights operated daily. This means approximately 230 flights will be reduced. Apart from this, IndiGo has also been directed to submit a changed schedule to DGCA by 5 pm on Wednesday. Here, the Center has deployed senior officers at 10 major airports to investigate the current situation. These people will find out what problems the passengers are facing. These officers are of Deputy Secretary, Director and Joint Secretary level. The 10 major airports include Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Chennai, Ahmedabad, Pune, Guwahati, Goa and Thiruvananthapuram.

At the same time, IndiGo CEO Peter Albers said that IndiGo is back on track. Our operation is stable. Lakhs of customers have received their full refund. We are doing this daily. We are back in all 138 locations in our network and cooperating with the government.
