Had gone out to drop off my daughter… Death found, priest murdered in PAK, human rights organization said – situation is serious

Pakistan Pastor Kamran Murder: Serious questions have once again arisen on the security of religious minorities in Pakistan. On Tuesday, a leading human rights organization of the minority community expressed deep concern over the killing of Christian pastor Kamran and called it a clear sign of growing religious intolerance in Pakistan.

This murder becomes even more sensitive at that time because just two months before this, a fatal attack was made on Pastor Kamran, in which he narrowly escaped.

had left to drop my daughter to college

According to human rights organization The Voice of Pakistan Minority, on the morning of December 5, Pastor Kamran had just come out of his house to drop his daughter to college when bike-riding attackers targeted him. As he moved towards his car, miscreants fired bullets at him from nearby, seriously injuring him. He was immediately taken to Gujranwala District Hospital in Punjab province, where he died during treatment.

Increasing threat to minority leaders

The organization says that this incident has left the entire Christian community in deep shock and fear. Pastor Kamran leaves behind his wife Salmina and three children. VOPM said that Pastor Kamran had dedicated his entire life to the service of society and humanity and hence his murder is extremely sad for the community.

In October, he was fired upon by some radicals in Islamabad. He was injured in that attack, but his life was saved. According to the organization, this second consecutive attack highlights the growing threat to minority leaders in Pakistan.

An atmosphere of fear in the Christian community

VOPM issued a statement saying that this brutal murder has further frightened the Christians of Pakistan. This is not an isolated incident, but part of a series of attacks on those individuals who remain steadfast in their faith and duty even in difficult circumstances. The pain of Pastor Kamran’s passing continues to resonate with his family and the communities he served.

Although the police have started investigating the case, VOPM and other human rights organizations believe that there is little hope of justice due to the apathy and lack of seriousness of the local administration.
