Haryana News: While promoting environmental protection in Mahendragarh, Satnali, Charkhi Dadri, Badhra and Loharu areas of South Haryana, the state government is now going to launch a new scheme for the conservation of local species of trees like Rohera and Janti. This scheme is being prepared on the lines of Pranavayu Devata Pension Scheme. Farmers in whose fields these trees will be safe, will be given an incentive amount of Rs 500 per tree every year, which will also be increased every year.

Forest and Environment Minister Rao Narbir Singh made it clear in a review meeting with officials on Tuesday that protection of natural heritage and environment conservation are among the top priorities of the government. He said that all the schemes should be implemented effectively at the ground level so that their positive results are visible in time.

The Minister directed that under the Eco-Tourism Policy, detailed plans should be prepared for Thapli located in Morni Hills and Chuhadpur area of Yamunanagar and the working draft should be presented soon. New action plans should also be made for the Shivalik and Aravalli regions and the projects should be operated on the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model, which will boost tourism and provide new employment opportunities to the local people.

It was told in the meeting that last year, under the Van Mitra Scheme, more than 71 thousand pits were dug and 5,710 saplings were planted. The Minister directed the officials to either provide financial assistance to Van Mitras for fertiliser, weeding and maintenance of trees or necessary resources should be provided by the department. This will enable better monitoring and conservation of plants and will accelerate the expansion of forest resources.
