this song is religionbeyond language and geographical boundaries
Vice President Radhakrishnan said that this timeless song composed by Bankimchandra Chattopadhyay was born at a time when the motherland was under the heavy burden of colonialism, but soon it became the common heartbeat of the entire nation. He said that this song went beyond religion, language and geographical boundaries and united the entire country.
Freedom earned through unwavering determination and unconditional love for the motherland.
Radhakrishnan reminded that Vande Mataram was not only an inspiration for the freedom fighters, but also the last call of many heroes – when they used to chant it smilingly while climbing the gallows with the dream of India’s freedom in their heart. He said that the penance of these known and unknown martyrs still resonates in every line of this song and reminds us that freedom has been earned through unwavering determination and unalloyed love for the motherland.
The voice of Vande Mataram spreads the light of brilliance across the world.
The Chairman also mentioned the line of the great poet Subramanya Bharati, in which he had said that the voice of Vande Mataram spreads the light of brilliance all over the world. He said, ‘Vande Mataram is a pledge – of our identity, of our unity and of our collective future.’
Appealed to the House that we all take this resolution in one voice…
