IND vs SA: The five-match T20 series between India and South Africa started with a bang at the Barabati Stadium in Cuttack. South Africa won the toss and decided to bowl first but the Indian batting faltered in the powerplay itself.

Shubman Gill’s flop comeback
Shubman Gill, who returned to the field after 24 days, had to make special preparations. Recovering from stiff neck, he came out to open. But the first over proved to be his last.
Gill played an aerial shot on the third ball of Lungi Ngidi. Marco Jansen took an easy catch at midoff. He got out after scoring four runs in just two balls. Gill’s haste proved costly for the team.
Suryakumar Yadav broke the hearts of fans
Captain Suryakumar Yadav breathed life into the third over. Ngidi hit a four on the second ball and a six on the third. But while playing a big shot on the fourth ball, he hung in the air.
Aiden Markram took a brilliant catch in the slips. Due to which he was able to score 12 runs on 11 balls. This aggressive but unsuccessful attempt by Surya turned the match towards South Africa.
Abhishek Sharma also out
Star batsman Abhishek Sharma scored 17 runs in 12 balls, which included 4 fours and 1 six. Abhishek could not play a big innings in this match and this was the reason why Team India had a bad start.
Sanju Samson was thrown out
Sanju Samson was not included in the playing 11 in this match also. Samson had proved himself as an opener but after Gill’s return, he was played in the middle order.
After this he has been dropped from the team itself. In place of Samson, the responsibility of wicketkeeping is in the hands of Jitesh Sharma, who bats in the middle order only.
