Big decision of DGCA, passengers will get relief due to 10 percent reduction in flights

IndiGo Crisis: The country’s largest private airline Indigo has been in the news for some time due to frequent cancellation of flights. Due to this the passengers had to face a lot of trouble. To improve this situation, the Civil Aviation Ministry has taken a big step. Now Indigo will have to temporarily reduce its total flights by 10 percent. The Ministry believes that this will stabilize operations and reduce sudden cancellations.

Minister Ram Mohan Naidu explained the reason

Posting on Instagram, Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu said that the ministry has directed IndiGo to reduce its total routes by 10 percent to ensure stability in operations. He said that in the recent past, the government had to take strict action due to increasing complaints, delays and canceled flights. This decision was necessary to maintain the safety, convenience and confidence of passengers.

Will Indigo services be stopped?

The minister clarified that this does not mean at all that Indigo is going to stop its services from any city. The airline will cover all destinations as before, only the number of flights will be reduced. That means the routes will remain the same, only the frequency will decrease. This is a temporary step and flights can be increased again once the situation becomes normal.

What benefit will the passengers get now?

Due to the increasing cancellations of IndiGo, passengers had to suffer huge losses, due to which the airline has had to give refunds of about Rs 610 crore so far. A 10 per cent reduction in flights will allow the airline to make better use of its existing resources and avoid over-scheduling. This is expected to provide relief to passengers from last-minute problems like cancellation, delay and route change.

DGCA’s eye, if there is no improvement then more strictness

DGCA i.e. Directorate General of Civil Aviation is continuously monitoring the operations of IndiGo. Officials believe the airline will first need to fix its operational gaps. If the situation does not improve, more stringent steps can be taken in future. At present, the government’s objective is to provide reliable, timely and safe air travel to passengers.
