Where is the largest reserve of gold? All the gold on earth will be gone in just this many years
Gold Reserve on Earth: When it comes to gold, people get happy faces. People show great affection for it, because it is a precious metal. Every country is increasing its gold reserves. One reason for this is that gold always works as a benefit in times of trouble. In such a situation, the question is how much gold is left in the earth? How much gold has been extracted since the beginning of human civilization?
According to the World Gold Council, since human history began, a total of 2.16 lakh tonnes of gold has been extracted from the earth. WGC has given this figure till the end of the year 2024. It has been said in the report that out of the total gold extracted so far, 66 percent of it has been extracted only since 1950. Now if the total gold extracted is measured, it would be as much as a cube of 22 meters, which is the height of a 4 storey building.
Now only 54-70 thousand tons of gold left in the earth
According to the report, there is not much gold left in the earth’s womb. 54 thousand to 70 thousand tons of gold is present in the earth. According to the US Geological Survey (USGS), there was a total of 2.44 lakh tons of gold in the earth. Most of this has already been taken out. Now only 57 thousand tonnes of gold is left, which can be taken out gradually in future.
Which country has how much gold?
Talking about gold reserves, Russia and Australia have the most gold. They have 12-12 thousand tonnes of gold reserve. By the way, experts believe that a huge amount of gold may be hidden in the center of the earth i.e. the core. Its quantity could be billions of tons, but current technology is not capable of reaching there.
Every year 3 thousand tons of gold is extracted
3,000 tonnes of gold is extracted every year around the world. At this speed of mining, the known gold reserves on Earth may be completely exhausted in the next 20 years. By the way, it is also expected that new technology and AI based discoveries may reveal new gold mines in the future.
