campaign conducted on secret information
DRI had received specific input about this, after which officials started surveillance in the dense bush area of Karanja (Ghadge), about 60 km from Wardha. After an overnight operation, the team found a fully operational synthetic drug unit, complete with a makeshift reactor, chemical tanks and other equipment. This entire setup was very cleverly hidden among the bushes so that it could not be noticed by the investigating agencies.
floating and hidden factory
This factory was built as a temporary structure with the help of local people. Its objective was to build it in the bushes instead of any house or permanent construction so that when seen from a distance, it would appear to be a part of a normal rural area. Due to this, no one had any idea about it for a long time. DRI says that the process of making drugs was going on continuously and 245 kg of precursor chemicals were also kept ready for this.
Three accused arrested, mastermind also caught
Three people were arrested during the operation. These include a key accused who is said to be the mastermind of this entire racket. He was playing the role of both financier and chemist, while his two partners were handling the production and supply network. Action has been taken against all three under the NDPS Act 1985 and further investigation is underway.
