Rehman Dakait steals show: Akshaye Khanna’s viral dance in Dhurandhar

If there is one song on everyone’s feed, it’s Sher-e-Baloch and if there’s one name lodged in everyone’s mind it’s Rehman Dakait – the character who, many claim, has completely overshadowed the lead actor Ranveer Singh aka Hamza Ali, thanks to Akshaye Khanna’s surprise swagger.

Bollywood actor Akshaye Khanna made a striking entry in the Pakistan-critical propaganda film Dhurandhar. He plays the character of Rehman Dakait.

A video of his entry has gone viral on social media. In the clip, Khanna steps out of a car wearing a black suit. He greets the crowd with local-style dance moves and then joins the crowd in dancing.

According to sources from the film’s production team, Khanna’s dance was not in the script. He spontaneously started dancing during the shoot. Fans have appreciated this unexpected performance.

Dhurandhar was released on December 5. The film portrays key Pakistani personalities in central roles. Besides Khanna, the main cast includes Ranveer Singh and Sanjay Dutt.

The movie has faced criticism on social media. Many viewers say it attempts to distort real events. Despite this, Khanna’s dance scene has become a talking point among film enthusiasts.

Pakistani audiences largely recognized the film as a propaganda piece. Many were impressed by its production quality, action sequences, and performances, especially Akshaye Khanna’s portrayal of a character inspired by Lyari gang leader Rehman Dakait.

Some viewers praised the film for showcasing Baloch culture, including dance sequences rarely depicted in Pakistani television, while others criticized its political messaging. Sumeta Afzal Syed, spokesperson for the Sindh government, condemned the use of former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto’s images in PPP rallies, calling it an attempt to link the party to terrorism—a claim that prompted debate online.
