New Delhi: Actress and Politician on Thursday, December 11 Hema Malini (Heam Malini) her late husband and veteran actor Dharmendra A prayer meeting was organized for Dharmendra in New Delhi. Many prominent figures from the entertainment and political fields paid tributes to the actor. These included Home Minister Amit Shah, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and actress and politician Kangana Ranaut. Dharmendra’s daughter Esha Deol was also present at the prayer meeting along with his sister Ahana. During this emotional meeting, Hema Malini revealed an unfulfilled dream of Dharmendra’s life.

‘That’ remained insufficient, an insufficient dream

At a prayer meeting held in memory of Dharmendra, the ‘he-man’ of Hindi cinema, Hema Malini remembered her husband with teary eyes. Towards the end of his life Dharmendra started writing poetry in Urdu and it became his new passion. Seeing his interest, Hema Malini advised him to publish his poems in book form. Hema Malini revealed with humble eyes that Dharmendra died before he could fulfill this dream. “It remains Dharmendra’s unfinished business, which was his dream,” she said.

Tribute paid by Amit Shah

Union Home Minister Amit Shah also attended the prayer meeting of late actor Dharmendra and paid tribute to him. In his speech, Amit Shah said that though he never got to meet the great actor in person, his contribution to Indian cinema will always be remembered. Amit Shah called Dharmendra’s death a “huge loss” and condoled with the family.

Loved comedy roles

Talking about Dharmendra’s career, Hema Malini added, “Dharmendraji acted in more than 300 films and played various roles including romantic, action hero as well as serious roles. But he loved comedy the most.” Hema Malini said, “He was very passionate about films; he loved being in front of the camera.” She added, “He would have turned 90 on December 8. We celebrated his birthday and so did the entire country. It’s very difficult for anyone to get the respect and love Dharamji got. Sometimes I think how great and extraordinary his life was.”
