Stockpile of demonetised Rs 500-1000 notes seized, 4 people arrested in Delhi

New Delhi: Taking major action in Delhi, police have recovered a huge cache of old 500 and 1000 rupee notes. A total of demonetised notes worth more than Rs 3.5 crore have been seized. In this case, four people Harsh, Tech Chandra Thakur, Lakshya and Vipin Kumar have been arrested from the spot. These people used to cheat people by pretending to exchange old notes. He admitted that he knew that he was exchanging notes illegally.

Notes were being exchanged at the gate of the metro station.

Police had received secret information that some people were going to exchange a large amount of demonetised notes near Shalimar Bagh Metro Station Gate No. 4. The police team immediately raided and caught all four there. During the raid, the police found a huge consignment of old 500 and 1000 rupee notes from the accused, whose face value is more than Rs 3.5 crore. Apart from this, two vehicles have also been recovered, which these people used to transport the notes.

According to the police, the four accused used to buy and sell these notes at very low prices. They used to deceive people and say that these notes can be exchanged at RBI, whereas this is absolutely wrong. This is clearly a fraud, conspiracy and violation of the Specified Bank Notes Act.

The four arrested accused admitted that they knew that possessing demonetised currency notes on such a large scale was completely illegal and they had no valid reason for possessing it. They were involved in this business out of the greed to earn quick money. Police have registered the case and further investigation is underway.
