Relief to passengers: SpiceJet will increase 100 daily flights due to Indigo’s troubles
New Delhi . Amid the IndiGo crisis, SpiceJet airline has planned to increase its services in view of the increasing demand on major routes in the current winter season. Its objective is to ensure adequate capacity in the Indian aviation market. As part of this effort, SpiceJet plans to introduce 100 additional flights per day during the current winter schedule, subject to regulatory approval. In the last two months, the airline has added 17 aircraft to its active operations.
This expansion has been done through damp-leased aircraft and bringing back into service its own aircraft. This increased demand will help SpiceJet to deploy additional capacity on high demand routes. SpiceJet has said that it is seeing strong and growing demand in winter. To enhance its services and ensure adequate capacity in the Indian aviation market, the airline plans to introduce 100 additional flights per day to the current winter schedule upon receipt of regulatory approval.
SpiceJet has inducted 17 aircraft into active operations in the last two months. These aircraft have been added through damp-lease and by returning the airline’s own aircraft to service. A total of 131 flights were canceled at Chennai and Bengaluru airports on Wednesday, due to which passengers faced a lot of trouble. A total of 70 flights have been canceled at Chennai Airport. Of these, there are 37 arrival flights and 33 departure flights.
At the same time, a total of 61 flights have been canceled at Bengaluru Airport. 35 arrival and 26 departure flights have been canceled in Bengaluru. The total number of canceled flights is very high. Cancellation of such a large number of flights at major airports like Chennai and Bengaluru is creating problems for passengers.
