Zootopia 2 is on its way to becoming a giant box office hit. It is already at $915.8 million worldwide and is almost ready to hit the $1 billion mark. Fans are loving the sequel. Many are saying the humor is sharper than the first film. The expanded world with new animal districts and the addition of reptiles is also getting a lot of praise. People are especially enjoying new characters like Gary the snake and the Lynxley family. The film also brings back sweet nostalgia and even gives a new Shakira song. It is fun for families and very easy to rewatch.
Now many fans are waiting to stream it at home. Here is what we know.
Disney normally puts its movies on Disney Plus about three months after they release in theaters. So Zootopia 2 should follow the same pattern. If the schedule stays normal the movie will most likely appear on Disney Plus at the end of February or in the first week of March. That is the expected window for streaming.
If you want to rent or buy the film digitally even earlier there is good news. Disney has been releasing its recent movies online about two months after they hit theaters. They did this with Fantastic Four First Steps and Tron Ares. If they follow the same plan Zootopia 2 should be ready to rent or buy in late January. But this will only be certain once Disney announces it officially.
Jared Bush who returned as director and writer along with Byron Howard shared why Zootopia still connects with so many people. He said people relate to animals more easily than they expect. He said you can look at a character and think that is you your friend your teacher or even the person you saw at the DMV. He also said the new film takes you to many new places through its visuals. He called Zootopia 2 their most ambitious movie in the last 100 years.
So the wait is not too long. Streaming will come soon. And the digital release might arrive even earlier.
