Don’t increase problems by thinking too much, cricket is my passion…Smriti Mandhana spoke openly for the first time after the end of her marriage.
Mumbai:Indian women’s cricket team vice-captain Smriti Mandhana was recently in the headlines for her personal life. Mandhana appeared on the public stage for the first time after the postponement of her wedding with singer and musician Palash Muchhal and the subsequent announcement of the end of the relationship. She was present with captain Harmanpreet Kaur at an event organized in Delhi, where she spoke openly about her mindset, cricket and mental strength.
Cricket is the biggest part of my life
During the program, when Mandhana was asked how she handles herself in difficult situations, she replied very simply. She said that I have always been a very simple person. I don’t make my life difficult by overthinking about anything. I believe the real hard work happens behind the scenes. Everyone watches us on the field and judges us, but I evaluate myself by the hard work we put in away from the cameras.
Mandhana further said that working so hard gives her a special kind of confidence. He said that whether you are in good or bad times mentally, when you work honestly, you know what can happen on the field.
He said that for him cricket is not just a game but a passion. I like nothing more than cricket. Wearing the Indian jersey is my biggest inspiration. It was my childhood dream that people should call me ‘World Champion’.
Mandhana’s thinking is clear regarding team discussion during the match
It is often seen that differences of opinion arise between players regarding strategy during the match. In response to the question asked on this, Mandhana said that she does not consider it a problem. According to him, all the players want to win for India. Everyone has their own idea as to how the team will win. In such a situation it is natural to have discussion. If there is no discussion, then understand that the passion to win within the team has gone. Mandhana said that though the debate may appear to be differences of opinion, it is actually a sign of the team’s desire to perform better.
Marriage postponed, relationship over
The marriage of Mandhana and Palash Muchhal was scheduled on 23 November, but it was postponed at the last moment. After this, both of them issued a statement on social media saying that they have decided to end the relationship with mutual consent and move forward in their respective lives.
However, despite these personal circumstances, Mandhana says that her focus has always been on cricket and will remain so in future. It is clearly visible from his words that he is mentally very strong and personal challenges do not affect his professional performance.
