Double attack of pollution along with cold in Delhi, cold wave continues in Punjab-Haryana; IMD’s warning – no relief for next 7 days
The Meteorological Department (IMD) has said that winter will become very severe in North India in the coming days. Punjab, Haryana, DelhiThere will be severe cold in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Rajasthan and there will be very dense fog in the morning and evening. Due to this, chill will be felt even during the day and the nights will become very cold. It is quite cold in Delhi right now. The temperature this morning may be around 8.5 degrees Celsius, which is slightly below normal.
The maximum temperature during the day will be around 24 degrees. The sky will be mostly clear, but there may be light mist or fog in the morning on Friday and Saturday. The air quality is still bad. AQI remains around 300, that is, it is in “poor” category. This can cause problems like shortness of breath, eye irritation. Always wear a mask while going out, especially children and the elderly.

Uttar Pradesh
Very strong cold winds will blow in UP for the next two-three days. There is dense fog in the villages and small towns in the morning. Frost has also started falling at many places. Even after the sun is shining during the day, the shivering cold starts as soon as the evening falls. Clouds may come and go at times from next week, but for now the weather will remain dry and cold.
Rajasthan
At some places in Rajasthan the night temperature has fallen by 4-5 degrees. The coldest area was Fatehpur, where the mercury dropped below 4 degrees. The night temperature in Jaipur may remain around 10 degrees. There will be mostly dry weather for the next one week, light clouds may come for 2-3 days, due to which there may be a slight increase in temperature by 1-2 degrees.
Punjab and Haryana
Faridkot was the coldest in Punjab, where the minimum temperature was recorded at only 4.9 degrees Celsius. The temperature everywhere in Amritsar, Ludhiana, Bathinda is between 6-7 degrees. Narnaul and Hisar are the coldest in Haryana, the mercury has fallen to 6 degrees there. There may be some relief after December 15, but after that cold winds will again trouble you.
Jammu-Kashmir and Himachal-Uttarakhand
The night temperature in Kashmir valley has gone to minus. The mercury has reached -4 to -5 degrees in Gulmarg, Pahalgam, Pulwama, Shopian. The temperature in Srinagar is also around -2 degrees. A new western disturbance will hit the mountains between 13 and 15 December, which may cause light snowfall in the higher reaches. This will cause more melting cold in the plains.
Rain alert in South India and islands
There is a possibility of light to moderate rain in Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Lakshadweep from December 12. Heavy to very heavy rain may occur at some places in Andaman and Nicobar. People living there should be careful, fishermen have been advised not to go into the sea.
