Shivraj Patil Passes Away: Senior Congress leader and former Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil is no more. He died on Friday (December 12) morning at his residence in Latur, Maharashtra. Patil breathed his last at the age of 90. Meanwhile, many leaders including PM Narendra Modi and Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi have expressed condolences on the demise of the former Union Home Minister.

Expressing grief over the demise of Shivraj Patil, PM Modi wrote in X Post on Friday, “Saddened by the passing away of Shri Shivraj Patil ji. He was an experienced leader, who in his long public life served as MLA, MP, Union Minister, Speaker of the Maharashtra Assembly and the Lok Sabha. He was always ready to contribute to the welfare of the society. I have spoken to him many times over the last few years, the most recent was when he came to my house a few months ago. In this hour of grief. My condolences to his family Om Shanti.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi wrote on Twitter, “The news of the demise of former Union Minister and senior Congress leader Shivraj Patil ji is extremely sad and an irreparable loss for the party. His dedication to public service, his contribution to the nation will always be remembered. My condolences are with the entire Patil family, their well-wishers and supporters in this hour of grief.”

Home Minister Amit Shah wrote, “Saddened by the demise of former Union Minister Shivraj Patil Chakurkar ji. In a career spanning several decades, Patil ji was known for his immense knowledge of public affairs and his dedicated service. Heartfelt condolences to his family members and well-wishers.”

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has also expressed grief over the demise of Shivraj Patil. “Deeply saddened by the demise of Shri Shivraj Patil, former Union Home Minister, former Lok Sabha Speaker and longtime Congress leader. He was a respected senior colleague with whom I had a close relationship and many fond memories. A highly respected politician, Shri Patil served the country with great honour, held important constitutional and parliamentary responsibilities and made significant contributions to India’s democratic institutions. His demise is a great loss to the Congress Party and all those who knew him for his integrity, Appreciated his patience and commitment to public service. My deepest condolences to his family, friends and countless supporters. May his soul rest in peace in this difficult time.
