Government’s ultimatum for refund to Indigo Airlines
Government’s tough stance
New Delhi: Amidst the problems being faced in the operations of Indigo Airlines across the country and the increasing anger of the passengers, the Civil Aviation Ministry has taken strict steps. The Ministry has given clear instructions to the airlines to complete the pending refunds of all affected passengers by 8 pm on Sunday, December 7. The government has warned that if refunds are not made within this time frame, strict regulatory action will be taken against the airline.
relief for passengers
Giving relief to the passengers, the Ministry has said that no re-scheduling charge will be charged for changing tickets from those whose flights have been canceled or disrupted. IndiGo has been ordered to create a ‘Special Passenger Support and Refund Cell’, which will not just wait for complaints but will also contact the affected passengers and help them with re-booking, refund or other travel arrangements.
luggage arrangement
The ministry has also issued strict instructions regarding the problem of luggage at airports. It has been made mandatory to deliver ‘mishandled baggage’ to the passengers’ homes within 48 hours. The Ministry has made it clear to airline managements that passenger convenience and sustainability of operations should be the top priority during the current crisis, and any negligence in this will not be tolerated.
