Scary attack of winter in Uttarakhand! Beware of dense fog and cold on December 12, what will be the weather condition?

Dehradun: It seems as if winter has decided to break the back in Uttarakhand. On December 12, 2025, the Meteorological Department has issued a warning of dense fog and cold winds, due to which the cold may become more severe in the hilly areas. If you are on a trip to the mountains or live in the plains, warm clothes and vigilance are necessary. According to IMD, today will be a cold but dry day, but there is a possibility of light rain or snowfall from tomorrow. Come, let us know the complete update.

Today’s weather: Cold and fog prevail

In the plains of Uttarakhand like Dehradun, the maximum temperature today is expected to be around 19 degrees Celsius and the minimum will be around 6 degrees. There may be light drizzle (0.8 mm), but mostly dry weather will prevail. Temperatures in hilly areas may drop to 20 degrees max and 6 degrees min, which is slightly above normal. There will be dense fog in the early morning, which will reduce visibility. The situation is similar in the areas adjacent to Delhi-NCR, where the minimum can be 7-9 degrees and the maximum can be up to 23 degrees. If you are driving, drive slowly as fog can invite accidents.

Next week’s forecast: Expected rain, but cold will increase

There will be lack of rain from 12th to 18th December, which means the season will fall in the large deficient category. The maximum temperature will be above normal and the minimum will be normal. But Western Disturbance will be active from December 14, which may bring light rain or snowfall in Himachal and Uttarakhand. From 19th to 25th December the temperature will become normal, but the minimum will go down. In high altitude areas like Kedarnath it can reach minus degrees. Overall, the average high for December will be 22.9 degrees and low will be 1.9 degrees, but it will get colder in the last week.

Advice for travelers and farmers: Exercise caution

This season is exciting but risky for mountain climbers. Carry a warm jacket, gloves and a flashlight. There is a danger of losing your way in fog, so check your GPS. Farmers have to be cautious as cold can damage crops. IMD appeals to keep an eye on local alerts. If there is snowfall, the fear of landslide may also loom. Overall, enjoy winter but stay safe!
