Accused of trafficking 27 children from Jharkhand and sending them to Nepal; There is also a possibility of religious conversion
Police in Jharkhand’s West Singhbhum district have started investigating allegations of smuggling 27 children to Nepal on the pretext of giving them good education and a better life. Giving information about the case, the officer said that it has also been alleged in the case that an attempt was made to convert them (children) to another religion.
He said that this incident came to light when recently two of the 27 children managed to escape from the clutches of smugglers and after returning home, they narrated their ordeal to their parents.

Superintendent of Police Amit Renu said that as part of the investigation, a team was sent to the village of those two children where it was found that 11 other children of that village were lured and taken to Nepal. Police officer (SP) said that four more children who were victims of trafficking returned on Wednesday. The SP said that five of the 11 children are still in Nepal and the district administration is making every possible effort to bring them back.
Renu said that similar information has come to our notice about 16 children from other parts of the district but till now no complaint has been received regarding the same. The SP said that a case has been registered in connection with the alleged smuggling. The officer has refused to give more information in the case.
