DGCA action on IndiGo, 4 flight operation inspectors suspended in flight cancellation case
DGCA Action Against IndiGo Airlines: Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has taken major action against IndiGo in the case of flight cancellation. In the matter of problems related to the operation of IndiGo Airlines, DGCA has removed 4 flight operation inspectors monitoring IndiGo. All these inspectors were involved in investigating the safety and operation of IndiGo flights.
It is believed that DGCA had to take this strict step due to negligence in investigation and monitoring. The officers against whom action was taken were all working in DGCA on contract and their responsibility was for security and operational oversight of airlines, especially IndiGo.
Earlier, Delhi High Court had asked tough questions to the Center and DGCA on the interruption in flight operations and problems faced by passengers at the airport. The court asked why such a sudden situation had arisen and what steps were taken to help the passengers? The court also wanted to know what arrangements were made by the government to handle the stranded passengers at the airport and prevent their problems. The High Court said that the issue is not limited to the inconvenience to passengers, but also includes economic loss and system failure. The court asked what action was taken to compensate the passengers and what steps were taken to ensure accountability of the airline staff.
Here, IndiGo, which has faced humiliation, gave a big offer to the passengers.
Indigo, which has faced the humiliation of passengers’ anger after numerous flight cancellations and continuous action by the Central Government, has given a big offer to the passengers. Indigo has also given a compensation of Rs 10,000 and a travel voucher of Rs 10,000 to the passengers after the travel related crisis. Indigo has announced relief to passengers due to cancellation of a large number of flights on 3, 4 and 5 December. The company has said that the affected passengers will be given compensation ranging from Rs 5,000 to Rs 10,000 as per government rules.
Indigo issued a statement saying that our first priority is to take care of our customers. Accordingly, following the disruption in operations, we have ensured that all necessary refunds for canceled flights have been initiated. Refund has been credited to the accounts of most of the customers, refund will also be credited to the accounts of passengers who have not received the refund soon.
