Delhi hospitals will provide birth certificate to the newborn as soon as he/she is born, MCD implemented 3 major changes.
The joy of the birth of a new child in Delhi is going to be even bigger. Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has implemented three major changes to simplify the process related to birth certificates. After these reforms, parents will no longer have to make separate rounds for the birth certificate. Under the new arrangement, MCD is starting an important facility for institutional deliveries in hospitals and clinics. Now the birth certificate of the newborn will be given to the parents even before they are discharged from the hospital. This is expected to provide great relief from the formalities and hustle and bustle that have been going on for years.
You will get birth certificate as soon as you are discharged.
Now, if a child is born in a hospital, nursing home or clinic in Delhi, a free birth certificate will be provided even before discharge. A senior MCD official said, “96% of deliveries in Delhi are already institutionalised. Our aim is to achieve 100% coverage soon. Currently, this facility has been started in most of the big hospitals and the initial results are very positive.”
Birth certificate will reach directly to DigiLocker
MCD has linked its entire system to DigiLocker of the central government. Now the certified digital copy of the birth certificate will be available directly in your DigiLocker account. “Now there is no need to worry about papers being lost or the MCD website being down. The certificate can be downloaded from DigiLocker anytime if needed, and it will be considered completely valid,” the official said.
As soon as birth registration is done, MCD’s system will automatically send the information to UIDAI. After this, the UIDAI staff will come home and get the Aadhar card made for the newborn. Under this new facility, parents will not need to visit any office separately.
According to the official report of 2024, 3,06,459 children were born in Delhi throughout the year, which means an average of 837 newborns every day. Of these, 96.09% deliveries were institutional and only 3.91% were domestic. The gender ratio included 52.06% boys, 47.91% girls and 0.03% others.
