Disappointment even after creating history in Paris

Vinesh Phogat became the first Indian female wrestler to reach the final of the 50 kg category in the Paris Olympics 2024. But just before the final, he was found to be 100 grams overweight and was disqualified under the rules. This incident became one of the most painful moments not only of his career but also of Indian sports history.

Later the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) also rejected his appeal. Broken by despair, Vinesh had announced her retirement on 8 August 2024 by writing an emotional post on social media.
