Ahmedabad: Team India allrounder Ravindra Jadeja’s wife Rivaba Jadeja has made a sensational claim about players of the national team.
Rivaba, a BJP MLA and Gujarat’s Education minister, stirred a controversy while trying to highlight her husband’s exceptional discipline.
In a video which has gone viral, Rivaba said her husband has never engaged in any form of addiction, but his teammates indulge in vices.
Speaking at an event in Gujarat’s Dwarka, Rivaba gave her perspective on moral choices by high-profile cricketers and athletes who have to travel the world.
“My husband, the cricketer Ravindra Jadeja, has to travel to many countries like London, Dubai, and Australia to play cricket. Despite this, to this day, he has never touched or engaged in any kind of addiction or vice, because he understands his responsibilities. The rest of the team all indulge in vices, but there is no restriction on them,” Rivaba said.
“My husband has been away from home for 12 years… he can do whatever he wants, but he understands his moral duty – what he needs to do,” Rivaba said.

Her comment is sure to trigger a debate in the cricketing fraternity.
At a time when Jadeja has emerged as the most consistent allrounder for India in Tests, and even in ODIs, Rivaba’s sweeping statement about ‘rest of the team’ all indulging in vices could land the her husband in an awkward position in the dressing room.
Even the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will face questions regarding discipline of its cricketers.
