Lucknow, 12 December. The hustle and bustle in the organization has intensified regarding the election of the new state president of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Uttar Pradesh. The final result of this two-day long election process will be revealed on December 14. According to party sources, more than 400 provincial members are reaching Lucknow to elect the new president, who is the formally voting delegate.
The election process will start from Saturday
According to the letter issued from the state headquarters of BJP in Lucknow, the process of election of the state president will start from December 13. Election officer and former Union Minister Dr. Mahendra Nath Pandey said that nomination papers will be filed at the state headquarters on December 13. During this, the nomination process will be completed in the presence of the party’s National General Secretary and Central Election Observer Vinod Tawde.
Piyush Goyal will finalize the election process on Sunday
He said that Central Election Officer and Union Minister Piyush Goyal will finalize the election process on December 14. If more than one nomination is received, voting will be conducted on the same day. However, party sources say circumstances point towards a single nomination, so the likelihood of an election being required is low. In such a situation, the name of the new president will be formally announced on December 14.
Under the BJP constitution, provincial members elect the state president.
The party leadership has summoned key officials, MPs, MLAs and ministers of the Yogi government to Lucknow. It is believed that there will be a comprehensive discussion at the organizational level. According to the BJP constitution, the state president is elected by the provincial members. Usually this process remains formal as only one name is decided unanimously, but if for some reason there is more than one candidate then elections are held.
2027 Very important from the point of view of assembly elections
There is discussion in political circles that in response to the PDA (Backward-Dalit-Minority) strategy of the opposition, BJP may consider making an OBC class leader the state president. The party leadership is considering this decision as extremely important from the point of view of the 2027 assembly elections.
