Big update on live telecast of T20 World Cup 2026, will ICC-JioStar relationship continue?

ICC T20 World Cup 2026: There are less than 2 months left for the start of the T20 World Cup 2026 to be jointly hosted by India and Sri Lanka. Before the start of the World Cup, there were reports of breakdown of the deal between the International Cricket Council (ICC) and JioStar, which created a stir in the cricket world. But now ICC has given relief news to the cricket fans.

ICC and JioStar themselves have rejected the rumors of the deal breaking. ICC and JioStar issued a joint statement on Friday (December 12) clearly saying that their $3 billion deal is absolutely fine and will continue till 2027.

ICC put brakes on rumors

Recently, a report in Economic Times claimed that Jiostar has decided to break its broadcasting deal with ICC midway. According to the report, the huge price of the deal is proving costly for the company and it is causing financial losses. Actually, Jiostar had acquired the broadcasting rights of ICC events in India for about Rs 27 thousand crores from 2024 to 2027.

For this reason the company is thinking of breaking the deal prematurely. However, now ICC-JioStar have rejected these reports outright, both of them said that the reports doing the rounds in the media that the deal has been broken or JioStar is backing out are all wrong. JioStar is still the official media rights partner of ICC in India.
