Indian equity indices wrapped up the day with steady gains, as the Nifty closed 0.57% higher at 26,046.95 and the Sensex ended 0.53% up at 85,267.66. Within the Nifty 50 basket, several heavyweights and sectoral leaders contributed to the positive sentiment, with metal and cement names taking the lead. Here are the top gainers from the Nifty 50 index (as per Trendline).

Tata Steel was the top gainer, rising 5.62% to ₹172.
Hindalco gained 3.3%closing at ₹851.2.
Eternal moved up 2.4% to ₹297.9.
UltraTech Cement added 2.3%ending at ₹11,730.
Larsen & Toubro rose 1.7% to ₹4,072.8.
Maruti Suzuki advanced 1.6%closing at ₹16,515.
JSW Steel ended 1.6% higher at ₹1,123.5.
Nestle India gained 1.6%finishing at ₹1,234.4.
Bharti Airtel increased 1.4% to ₹2,082.1.
SBI Life closed 1.2% higher at ₹2,030.
