Congress MP in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi said on Friday, “Most of our big cities are living under a blanket of poisonous air. Lakhs of children are suffering from lung diseases, their future is being ruined, and people are getting cancer. The elderly are having trouble breathing.” He said, “This is an interesting issue because I’m sure there will be complete agreement between the government and us on this. This is not an ideological issue; everyone in the House agrees that air pollution—and the harm it is causing to our people—is something we must work together on.”

The Congress leader added, “I think it is important that the government makes a plan to get rid of air pollution in our cities. We are very happy to work with the government to make such a plan. On this issue, we can show the country that we can work together on something important. We should discuss this in detail in Parliament, and the Prime Minister should make a methodical, systematic plan for every city—a plan that will be implemented over the next 5 or so years.” “Can make the lives of our people easier in 10 years.”
