PCB to Introduce New Teams Ahead of Next PSL Season, Deadline Extended

On December 12, Mohsin Naqvi, the chief of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), made a formal announcement regarding the extension of the deadline for the submission of bids for the PSL franchises, which was moved from December 15 to December 22, 2025.

This announcement is made in the context of the growing interest shown by Europe, the US, and the Middle East in getting the new HBL PSL teams. The participation and investment of the international community in the league are significantly increasing, according to the PCB Chief, and the extension of the deadline will only help in bringing more potential investors

The chairman let it be known through his official Twitter account that he was the person to cons

“Witnessing growing interest from the Europe, USA, the Middle East and beyond in acquiring new HBL PSL teams, we have decided to extend the bid submission deadline by one week to 22 December 2025. Good luck to everyone excited to welcome our new franchise owners to the HBL PSL family,” Mohsin Naqvi said in the statement.

For the unaware, PSL also arranged roadshows in the Lord’s cricket ground and will also arrange another international roadshow in New York soon

Two new teams are going to be part of the PSL 2023. However, the current and new investors should propose two name alternatives, with corresponding logos and designs, for the new franchises. This extension provides the investors with extra time before the two new teams are introduced to the tournament.

In this context, the two new teams for PSL 11 are more or less through with a franchise reserve price of around PKR 1.25 billion each. Reports also indicate that US-based entrepreneurs and investors from the UK and Europe are likely to bid.
