The name of the arrested person is Kulendra Sharma, who is a resident of Patiya area of ​​Tezpur. Intelligence agencies had received information about him, which mentioned his alleged contacts with a Pakistani spy agency. On this basis he was detained. Kulendra Sharma was posted as Junior Warrant Officer in the Indian Air Force and was posted at Tezpur Air Force Station. He retired from service in the year 2002. Accused’s mobile and laptop seized, case registered in Tezpur police station

After retiring from the Air Force, Kulendra Sharma worked in the Electronics Department of Tezpur University, from where he later retired. Police allege that he secretly gave sensitive defense related information to Pakistani handlers. During the investigation, the police have seized his laptop and mobile phone, which are being forensically examined. Sonitpur DSP Haricharan Bhumij said, ‘We have seized the mobile and laptop of the accused and a case has been registered in this matter at Tezpur police station.’

Tezpur is considered an important military center for the eastern border of India.

It is noteworthy that Tezpur has great strategic importance because the headquarters of the IV Corps of the Indian Army is located here, which is also known as Gajraj Corps. This corps works under the Eastern Command and is responsible for the security of important border areas of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh. For this reason Tezpur is considered an important military center for the eastern border of India.

Investigation into Pakistani connection of Assam woman

In this, the suspected Pakistani links of Jyotika Kalita, a woman from Assam, who was arrested earlier this month, are being investigated. Jyotika Kalita, resident of Sonitpur district, was caught along with her brother and four other people on December 5. The investigation revealed suspicious foreign money transactions. Police are now investigating 17 bank accounts linked to him as there are indications of sudden and unusual inflow of money from abroad in these accounts.
