Mother’s sudden demise changed her life, decided to leave Canada and return to India; NRI told an emotional story
Reddit Post India Return: An emotional post shared on Reddit has deeply shocked social media users. The post titled “28M, Canada to India” was posted on the r/ReturnToIndia subreddit, in which a young man described how his mother’s sudden demise changed the course of his entire life. The young man wrote that his mother died suddenly of cardiac arrest three days ago.
As soon as he got the news, he immediately booked a flight and came to India and performed the last rites. Expressing his pain in words, he wrote that he was feeling deep guilt, remorse and the realization that now he would never be able to live even small moments with his mother.

Appealed to people to stay close to their mother
What made the pain deeper was that just a few hours before her mother’s death, she had spoken to her over video call. The young man wrote, “Nothing still feels real. She was my favorite person in this world.” He appealed to the people living abroad to talk to their mother more today and tell her how much they love her.
She also shared that her 15-month-old child never got to meet his grandmother, which is her biggest sadness. The youth said that his mother wanted him to return to India, specifically Bengaluru, so that he could live with her family.

Users expressed condolences
In the viral post he also raised questions on the eight years he spent in Canada. He wrote that getting closer to permanent residency, home and citizenship now feels hollow to him. He admitted that the loneliness, harsh weather and absence of family in a foreign country is clearly visible to him now. After his mother’s departure, he has decided to sell his house in Canada and return to India permanently.
He wrote that he wants to raise his child with family, relationships and Indian values. While many users expressed their condolences in the comments section, some advised that at a time of deep grief, it would be better to take some time before taking any major and permanent decisions.
