When Zubin Garg was murdered, who was the murderer? : SIT filed 2,500-page charge sheet in the court, names of these seven people included

In the high-profile investigation into the death of Assam’s cultural icon and singer Zubeen Garg, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) of Assam Police on Friday filed a 2,500-page charge sheet in the court in the case. At the same time, the total number of pages in the charge sheet including documents is around 12 thousand. In this case, seven people have been accused under sections of the Indian Justice Code (BNS). Assam Police Special Investigation Team (SIT) chief Munna Prasad Gupta on Friday informed about the chargesheet related to the Zubin Garg case being filed in the court.
In the charge sheet filed in the court, allegations ranging from criminal conspiracy and culpable homicide to murder and causing death by negligence have been made a legal basis.
Zubeen Garg had gone to Singapore to participate in the North East India Festival, where he died due to drowning in Singapore on September 19, 2025. After this incident it became a high-profile case. Initially it was considered an accident, but now Assam Police is investigating it as murder. Many arrests have been made in this regard earlier also.
The SIT chief said that seven people are in judicial custody in this case. In this, charges have been filed against Shyamkanu Mahant Mahant, the organizer of the North East India Utsav and leading the program, under sections 3, 61, 103, 308, 318 and 238 of the BNS. A case has been registered against Garg’s manager Siddharth Sharma under sections 3 (6/7/8), 61(2), 103(1) and 316(5) of the Indian Justice Code (BNS).
Similarly, musician Shekharjyoti Goswami has been booked under sections 3, 61, 103, 318 and 316. A case has been registered against Zubeen’s cousin and DSP Sandipan Garg under section 105 of BNS. A case has been registered against his two personal bodyguards Paresh Baishya and Nandeshwar Bora under sections 61, 316(5) and 61(2), 316(5) respectively. Singer Amritprabha Mahant has also been charged under several sections.
Munna Prasad Gupta said that the main charge sheet is about 2,500 pages long, while the total number of pages in the charge sheet including the attached documents is about 12 thousand. Gupta said that the SIT has collected extensive evidence and documents to facilitate the judicial process.
