UP government’s unique scheme for daughters, government bears the expenses from education to marriage

Kanya Sumangala scheme: Uttar Pradesh government has started Mukhyamantri Kanya Sumangala Yojana to provide financial strength to the education and upbringing of daughters. The main goal of this scheme is to ensure that no daughter’s education is stopped due to financial reasons. By providing phased financial assistance from the birth of a daughter till her higher education, the government reduces the burden on families and gives the daughters the opportunity to become self-reliant.

Financial assistance is available in six stages

Under Kanya Sumangala Yojana, a total assistance amount of Rs 25,000 is given, which is not provided in lump sum but in six different phases. This arrangement has been made so that the family gets support at every important stage of the daughter’s age and education.

amount received at each stage

At the time of birth of a daughter, an assistance of Rs 5,000 is given to the parents, so that the initial care and needs can be met. After this, when the child completes all the necessary vaccinations till the age of one year, an additional assistance of Rs 2,000 is given.

On taking admission in Class 1, the daughter is given Rs 3,000, so that books, uniform and other necessary items can be purchased. After reaching class 6, one gets Rs 3,000, which fulfills the needs of middle school.

The government gives Rs 5,000 at the time of admission in class 9, because the cost of education starts increasing at this level. After this, if the daughter passes 10th or 12th and takes admission in graduation or diploma course, then she is given an assistance of Rs 7,000. In this way, a total of Rs 25,000 supports the daughter’s education continuously.

Who can avail the benefits of the scheme

The benefit of this scheme is available only to those families whose annual income is less than Rs 3 lakh. Maximum two daughters of a family can participate in this scheme. However, if there are three daughters in the family and two of them are twins, then all three are given the benefits of the scheme.
