Do not run these 5 heavy appliances with inverter, they will drain the battery within minutes
Inverters are a great source of relief for families during power cuts. It not only maintains the lights but also keeps some basic appliances running smoothly. However, experts warn that it is not safe to run every electronic item on an inverter. There are many high-load appliances, which suck the entire battery of the inverter within a few minutes and sometimes even damage the system.
Energy experts say that inverters have limited capacity and should be used only for light and essential appliances. Heavy loaded products not only reduce battery life but also put additional stress on the inverter board and wiring.
1. Heaters and Blowers: Power’s biggest enemies
In winter, the use of heaters and blowers increases to keep the room warm, but running them on inverters is not considered safe at all.
These appliances draw 1000–2000 watts of power, draining the inverter’s battery within minutes. In many cases, complaints of inverter fuse blowing or board damage due to heavy load have also been received.
2. Microwave oven: danger of high-voltage demand
A microwave oven draws a sudden high voltage to produce rapid heat. The inverter is unable to cope with such rapidly changing demand, due to which there is a risk of damage to both appliances.
Experts advise that use of microwave should be completely avoided during power cuts.
3. Pump Motor: Heavy current consumption and pressure on the system
The water motor is usually 0.5 to 1.5 horsepower and at the time of starting it draws many times more power than normal use.
Running a motor on an inverter not only drains the battery quickly but also puts excessive stress on the inverter’s circuits. This is why technical experts consider it to be the most risky device.
4. Large Capacity Refrigerators and Deep Freezers
Although small refrigerators can be run on an inverter for some time, large capacity refrigerators and deep freezers are not suitable for inverter systems.
Their compressor draws high voltage at startup and due to the long running time required, it discharges the battery rapidly.
5. Washing Machine: Double pressure of motor and heater
Most washing machines have both a motor and a heating element. The combined power consumption of both puts a lot of load on the inverter.
This has a negative impact on the motor rotor, inverter wiring and battery life.
How to use inverter properly?
Operate only low power appliances like LED bulbs, fans, mobile chargers, laptops and Wi-Fi routers.
Keep checking the health of the battery from time to time.
Avoid using heavily loaded appliances until power is restored.
Plan your usage keeping in mind the inverter capacity and battery voltage.
