Gujarat: CM Bhupendrabhai Patel gave scholarships worth Rs 370 crore to 13 lakh students through DBT.

Gandhinagar, 13 December. Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendrabhai Patel on Friday presided over the scholarship distribution program organized under the state’s flagship education schemes – Namo Lakshmi, Namo Saraswati Vigyan Sadhana, Chief Minister Gyan Sadhana Merit Scholarship and Chief Minister Gyan Setu Merit Scholarship.

On this occasion, scholarships worth more than Rs 370 crore were sent directly into the bank accounts of more than 13 lakh students across the state through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). Many dignitaries including Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Shanghvi, Education Minister Dr. Pradyuman Singh Waja, Minister of State Rivaba Jadeja were present in this program organized in Gandhinagar.

CM Bhupendra Patel said in his address that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ campaign has given new direction and momentum to girls’ education across the country. He recalled that the campaigns like School Praveshotsav and Kanya Kelavani Mahotsav, started by Prime Minister Modi when he was the Chief Minister of Gujarat, brought comprehensive changes in the education system of the state and increased awareness among families about the education of daughters.

He said that Gujarat has realized Prime Minister Modi’s vision of providing continuous, accessible and quality education from KG to PG. Describing education as the cornerstone of the development of the state and the country, the Chief Minister called upon the students to acquire knowledge with dedication and be proud of Indian cultural values. He said that youth power will play an important role in building a developed Gujarat, self-reliant Gujarat, developed India and self-reliant India in the coming years.

Gujarat’s education infrastructure has expanded rapidly in the last two decades.

CM Patel said that the education infrastructure of Gujarat has expanded rapidly in the last two decades. A strong system has been developed in the state from school to higher education. Widespread access to quality education has been ensured through school entrance ceremonies, advanced classrooms, digital tools, smart schools, better teacher recruitment and skill-based education.

Important contribution in making education industry-oriented and inclusive.

At the level of higher education also, a strong network of universities, model colleges, skill universities and specialized engineering, medical and research institutes has developed in the state. Namo Lakshmi, Namo Saraswati and various merit scholarship schemes have played an important role in increasing continuity and access to education, especially for girls. Apart from this, increasing investments in hostel facilities, STEM labs, vocational training and public-private partnerships have significantly contributed to making education industry-oriented and inclusive.
