Trump on Brown University Shooting: A shooting occurred at Brown University on December 13, leaving two dead and eight others seriously injured. Soon after the incident, President Donald Trump made a post on the social media platform Truth Social, claiming that the suspect had been arrested. He wrote, “I have received information that the FBI is on scene in reference to the shooting that took place at Brown University in Rhode Island and the suspect has been taken into custody.”
However, shortly after this, Trump made another post in which he reversed the earlier statement and said that Brown University Police changed their statement and now it is being said that the suspect is not in custody. Social media users criticized Donald Trump on this.
Mixed reaction on social media
People’s anger erupted over Trump’s changing statement. Many people started saying that Trump gave wrong information, while some also said that he was spreading confusion. One user wrote, Trump is misinformed, it is dangerous, while another made fun of him by calling him an idiot. However, some users also defended Trump, saying that as soon as correct information was received, Trump changed his statement. He immediately withdrew his statement, one said.
Meanwhile, Providence police clarified that a suspect was briefly detained but was later released because he was not involved in the shooting. According to the police, the man was wearing all black clothes and was initially considered a suspect. However, it later became clear that he had no connection with the incident.

Two people died in firing
The mayor of Providence said two people were killed and eight others were injured in the shooting. He also warned that the investigation is still ongoing, so the number of dead and injured may change. FBI has also assured to investigate and provide assistance in this matter.
