Although Cena gave the audience hope by placing an AA on the announcer’s table, Gunther still did not give up. In the end, Cena had to accept defeat in front of Gunther’s sleeper lock. As soon as Cena tapped out, there was silence in the arena and there was resentment among the audience regarding WWE’s booking.

After an emotional video package, Cena left his wrestling boots in the ring, which is considered a symbol of his retirement from wrestling.
