Pakistanis Watch Dhurandhar And The Reactions Are Unexpectedly Positive- WATCH HERE

As Dhurandhar continues its theatrical run, an unexpected and noteworthy reaction is emerging from across the border. Pakistani audiences, many of whom were initially curious or cautious given the film’s subject, are now sharing overwhelmingly positive responses on social media. Several Instagram videos posted by Pakistani viewers show them praising the film’s storytelling, performances and treatment of sensitive historical events.

In one such video doing the rounds online, a group of Pakistani moviegoers are seen sharing their immediate reactions after watching Dhurandhar. One of the viewers says she entered the theatre excited but unsure of what to expect, before quickly calling the film “very nice” and a “must watch”.

The group unanimously applauds the performances, with one viewer admitting she found it difficult to single out the best actor because “everyone was so good”. Ranveer Singh, in particular, is mentioned as a personal favourite, though the speaker stresses that no performance in the film felt weak. The direction, music and overall execution are also described as top-notch.

What has drawn the most attention, however, is the clear message directed at fellow Pakistanis. In the video, the speaker urges people to watch Dhurandhar without preconceived notions, firmly stating that the film is not anti-Pakistani. According to her, the narrative presents historical facts and real events, and should be viewed with an open mind rather than suspicion. “Please watch it with an open mind,” she says repeatedly, encouraging audiences to judge the film on its intent and craft.

Another viewer in the group adds that the film is based on two real events and has been handled sensitively, before concluding with a simple recommendation: “Don’t miss it.”

Growing reactions online

The Instagram video is not an isolated case. More Pakistani viewers are uploading similar reactions, many echoing the same sentiment — appreciation for the film’s performances and craft, and reassurance that it should not be viewed as hostile or offensive. Several users are urging others to watch the film themselves before forming an opinion.

As these reactions continue to surface, Dhurandhar appears to be doing what few films manage to achieve — prompting cross-border discussion based on cinema rather than politics, and reminding audiences that stories rooted in shared history can still resonate on both sides when told with balance and sensitivity.

The story behind Dhurandhar

There were speculations that Dhurandhar is based on life of Major Mohit Sharma. However, director Aditya Dhar has officially clarified that the film is a work of fiction and does not depict the life, operations or experiences of Major Mohit Sharma, despite widespread speculation about a connection.

Major Mohit Sharma was a decorated Indian Army officer who infiltrated militant groups under cover and was posthumously awarded the Ashok Chakra for bravery in Jammu & Kashmir.

Despite the clarification issued by the makers, audiences are drawing paralles with Major Sharma’s mission, everyone he defeated and the all that happened during the journey.
