Grape 3 was implemented today itself, but by evening, Grape 4 was implemented. Due to this, now all the parents are trying to know whether the schools will run online only or the children will have to go to school.

Will schools be online?

After the implementation of GRAP-4 in Delhi, government and private offices will have to work with 50% employees and the rest of the employees will have to work from home. This instruction has been given under Section 5 of the Environment (Protection) Act, 1986. Orders have been given to implement hybrid mode in Delhi schools till class 9 and class 11. Why was Grap 4 implemented?

Central body Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) said in a statement that taking into account the current state of air quality in the region and in an effort to prevent further deterioration in air quality, the Sub-Committee on GRAP of CAQM has decided to implement all actions envisaged under Phase-IV of the existing GRAP – ‘Severe+’ air quality (Delhi AQI > 450) in the entire NCR with immediate effect. This is in addition to the actions taken under Phases I, II and III of the existing GRAP already implemented in NCR. Explaining the reasons for the worsening AQI, CAQM said the main reason was a weak western disturbance moving towards northwest India, and not local emissions. Obviously this polluted air is there as long as there is a weak western disturbance. Therefore, the chances of its improvement are more.
