We are the last generation: Microsoft India head makes big claim on AI, warns about jobs

Desk: Will Artificial Intelligence take away jobs or not? Puneet Chandok, President of Microsoft India and South Asia, has given a big statement on this question. He says that we are the last generation that is experiencing stable and long-term careers. AI will not eliminate jobs, but will break them into new forms. The real danger is not technology, but refusal to learn.

Microsoft India President Puneet Chandhok believes that AI will not directly eliminate jobs. Rather, AI will divide jobs into smaller tasks, which he called unbundling of jobs. This means that the old way of working in the same role will change. Employees will have to adapt themselves with new skills, otherwise they may be left behind.

Chandok said that the model of the Industrial Age is now breaking, where after studying once, one used to do the same work for the whole life. Due to the increasing use of AI, this will be the last generation that will experience a stable and long career. The coming generations will not be limited to one job. She will work by creating a portfolio of different skills and projects.

Regarding the concern of job loss due to AI, Chandok clearly said that the real threat is not automation. According to him, the real pink slip in the new AI world is refusal to learn. He compared learning to an oxygen mask and said that we are fighting against becoming irrelevant every day. The one who does not learn continuously will be the first to be eliminated.
