Important role in OBC politics
Pankaj Chaudhary is considered an important face of BJP’s OBC strategy in Uttar Pradesh. Choudhary, who has been MP from Maharajganj Lok Sabha seat seven times, comes from the Kurmi community, which is considered influential in the politics of the state. During the recent Lok Sabha elections, there was discussion of resentment among a section of the Kurmi community against the BJP. In such a situation, the appointment of Pankaj Choudhary is being seen as a strategic effort to strengthen the party’s relations with the OBC class, especially the Kurmi voters.
Got full support from top leadership
The presence of many big leaders of the party during the nomination of Pankaj Chaudhary made it clear that he has the full confidence of the organization and the central leadership. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, both Deputy Chief Ministers Keshav Prasad Maurya and Brijesh Pathak, Union Minister Smriti Irani, former state president Swatantra Dev Singh, Surya Pratap Shahi, Suresh Khanna and former Governor Baby Rani Maurya had supported his nomination. This indicated that the party leadership is taking this change forward unitedly.
Enthusiasm of supporters from Maharajganj to Lucknow
When Pankaj Chaudhary filed nomination for the post of state president, a large number of supporters from his parliamentary constituency Maharajganj reached Lucknow. The presence of supporters from Lucknow airport to BJP state office showed that Chaudhary’s grassroots base is strong. The workers welcomed him with flowers, garlands and slogans, due to which enthusiasm was seen in the entire atmosphere.
Eyes fixed on upcoming elections
As state president, Pankaj Chaudhary will have a big responsibility to strengthen the organization and sharpen the preparations for the upcoming elections. It is believed that under his leadership, BJP will pay special attention to social balance and organizational expansion. This appointment is not only an organizational change, but is also being seen as an important political move to solve the upcoming election equations.
