Simple and accessible justice is essential for the poor: Justice Aggarwal

Justice Sudhir Aggarwal, who gave the historic judgment on the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi dispute, while expressing his views, said that if we really talk about the development of the country and society, then the poor and the common citizen will have to be ensured good education, good health facilities and quick justice. This is the foundation stone of a healthy and developed society. He said that it is not practical for more than 125 crore people of the country to get timely justice from a single Supreme Court. There is a need that more benches of the Supreme Court should be established in all four directions of the country and in major states. Justice Aggarwal also expressed concern over the education and health system and said that today the affluent class does not want to send their children to government schools and get treatment in government hospitals because there is a lack of arrangements and facilities. If government officials, public representatives and other responsible people send themselves or their family members to these institutions, then they will become familiar with the real situation and concrete initiatives will be possible towards improving the system. He said that it should be made mandatory that responsible people get the education and treatment of their children in government institutions only.

Box: Equal justice for all

Justice Aggarwal said in clear words that today the common man in the country is searching for justice. About five and a half crore cases are pending in the courts of the country. In the cases of the affluent class, courts are opened overnight and trials are conducted quickly, while the common man struggles even to lodge a report in the police station. This situation is contrary to the spirit of equal justice. He said that there should be such a system in the country where every citizen can get equal, simple and speedy justice.

Role of media in protecting linguistic dignity and cultural dignity

Mahamandaleshwar Dhyanashree Swami Shaileshanand Giri Maharaj of Panchdasnam Juna Akhara, who was specially present in the program, said that linguistic intolerance is increasing in the society today. Media can play an important role in protecting its dignity and it should also fulfill this responsibility. He said that there should be no difference between conduct and appearance. Maharajshree also expressed concern over the fact that today pilgrimage sites are being seen as tourist destinations, whereas it is necessary to understand the difference between pilgrimage and tourism. It is the collective responsibility of the society to maintain the dignity and sanctity of the pilgrimage sites. Sharing his multifaceted life experience—film actor, cricket commentator, journalism, politics and saint life—he said that the soil of Madhya Pradesh has reshaped his life time and again. Praising the work of Madhya Pradesh Press Club, he said that it is indeed a matter of pride to honor the personalities who bring glory to the state.
