Winter Health Alert: What you think is warmth is slowly damaging your brain.

News India Live, Digital Desk: 15th December has arrived and the cold is in full swing outside. What is the sweetest feeling while sleeping at night in such weather? Sure enough, snuggling up inside a warm quilt or blanket. Many of us (perhaps you too) have a habit that to protect ourselves from cold, we cover ourselves from head to toe and sleep with our mouth covered. We think that this will keep us warm and help us sleep better. But the opinion of friends, science and doctors is completely opposite to this. This ‘comfortable’ habit of yours is actually harming your body from within. How? Let us understand in simple language. A ‘gas chamber’ is created inside the blanket. When we cover our mouth completely, the air circulation inside the quilt almost stops. Lack of oxygen: We inhale oxygen while breathing. When the mouth is covered, fresh air cannot come in, due to which the oxygen level starts decreasing. Poison of our own breath: We exhale carbon dioxide while exhaling. This dirty air keeps accumulating in closed spaces and we unknowingly start inhaling the same impure air again and again. What happens due to this? Heavy head in the morning: Does it happen to you that even after sleeping for 8 hours, you feel headache or heaviness in the morning? This is because your brain did not get enough oxygen overnight. Pressure on the lungs: Due to lack of pure oxygen, the lungs and heart have to work harder to function. For those who are asthma or heart patients, this habit can be fatal. Slowing down metabolism: This is a bit shocking, but lack of oxygen reduces the body’s ability to burn calories, which increases the risk of weight gain. Skin and hair problems: The heat of our breath can cause bacteria to grow inside the quilt, which can cause pimples on the face and hair loss. So how to avoid cold? Mouth Covering up is not the only option: Sleep with a warm cap over your head, so that body heat does not escape through your head. Wear socks on your feet. If your feet and head are warm, you will feel less cold in the whole body. Leave your face open so that your lungs can breathe fresh air. Health is priceless, do not waste it in small carelessness. Change your sleeping habits from tonight itself!
