Robert Downey Jr. returns in ‘Doomsday’ trailer – Obnews
Marvel Studios has sent the first teaser trailer for **Avengers: Doomsday** to theaters worldwide, where it will be shown ahead of screenings of James Cameron’s **Avatar: Fire and Ash** scheduled for release on December 19, 2025.
Reports from The Hollywood Reporter and several media outlets confirm Disney’s unique strategy: four different teaser trailers will be shown for four consecutive weeks, with each trailer running for a week before the next trailer is shown. The idea of this approach is to encourage people to watch Avatar: Fire and Ash again and again, as well as increase curiosity for the MCU blockbuster.
Trailers have been shipped under lock and key to prevent leaks, although international screenings may reveal fan-recorded footage. While the official online release is yet to be decided, it might be postponed to prioritize theatrical exclusivity.
Showcasing the highly anticipated return of Robert Downey Jr.—not as Iron Man, but as the villain **Doctor Doom**—these teasers kick off the marketing for Avengers: Doomsday, directed by Anthony and Joe Russo. The film brings together a massive team including the returning Avengers, the Fantastic Four, the Thunderbolts and classic X-Men characters against the threat of Doom.
Avengers: Doomsday is scheduled to be released in theaters on December 18, 2026.
