Karl Urban and Antony Starr tease epic showdown- The Week
Ever since The Boys Season 5 concluded filming in June, fans have been eagerly awaiting an update on the premiere date of Amazon Prime Video’s dark and edgy superhero extravaganza. A 2026 release is imminent, and the streamer has started releasing promo materials from the show.
The first two teaser posters hint that things are going to get far worse than before. Karl Urban, who plays Billy Butcher, had confirmed the same recently — “anybody’s fair game” — at The Boys panel at FAN EXPO, during an interaction with ScreenRant. “I think we throw you in the deep end, but in a good way, because the stakes are as high as they can possibly be,” he said then, adding, “I think the real thing to look out for in season 5 on an emotional level, as far as the characters go, and your attachments to characters, there’s going to be some big hits early on in the very first episode.”
Season 5 will also feature characters from its spinoff, Gen Vsince Season 2 ended with The Boys characters Starlight and A-Train on a recruiting mission.
Recently, creator Eric Kripke thanked The Boys and Gen V fans while confirming that the fifth season of the former will indeed be the final season and that the team is busy putting the final touches.
Posting a picture of himself and his VFX team on his Instagram handle, Kripke wrote: “First, thank you for watching & loving @genv (and if you haven’t watched yet, what the holy mother******* f*** are you waiting for? Quit doom scrolling and watch!) Second, we’re hard at work finishing @theboystv Final Season. Here’s me and some of the VFX team today. Editing is all done, we’re roughly halfway finished with VFX, Music, Color. I’m really happy with how it’s going and can’t wait for you to see. We go out with a bang. COMING (reasonably) SOON. #GenV #TheBoys.”
Meanwhile, The Boys team will meet fans and members of the press at CCXP 25 on Saturday, December 6, 2025, during the São Paulo Expo in Brazil.
