Bhopal, December 16: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav will distribute an amount of Rs 160 crore in 7 thousand 227 cases of ex-gratia assistance through a single click under Sambal Yojana in Mantralaya, Bhopal today (Tuesday). Panchayat and Rural Development and Labor Minister Prahlad Singh Patel and ministers and local public representatives at various places will be present in the program.

Public Relations Officer RR Patel said that Sambal is a very important scheme for lakhs of workers working in the unorganized sector in the state. Under the Ex-gratia Assistance Scheme, Rs 4 lakh is provided in case of accidental death and Rs 2 lakh in case of normal death. Similarly, Rs 2 lakh is provided in case of permanent disability, Rs 1 lakh in case of partial permanent disability and Rs 5 thousand is provided as funeral assistance. Under the Sambal Yojana, on one hand, Rs 16,000 is given to the women workers as maternity assistance, while on the other hand, the entire tuition fee for higher education for the children of the workers is borne by the state government under the College Education Promotion Scheme.

He said that on the initiative of NITI Aayog of Government of India, gig and platform workers of the state have also been included under Sambal Yojana and their registration has been started. They are also being provided all the benefits under Sambal Yojana. Sambal beneficiaries also receive food eligibility slips through which they are receiving ration at concessional rates from the Central and State Governments.

It is noteworthy that Sambal Yojana is a very important scheme for lakhs of workers working in the unorganized sector in the state. In this, the worker gets financial assistance from birth till death. In real sense, it is the support of the workers. This scheme of Madhya Pradesh is exemplary for all the states of the country. The state government also runs many schemes for lakhs of construction workers of the state through the construction board. These also include ex-gratia assistance in case of death of construction workers and assistance in case of permanent and partial disability. All Sambal beneficiaries have been identified in the eligible category under Ayushman Bharat Niramay Yojana. Now they are also getting free medical treatment worth Rs 5 lakh annually.

Till now, 1 crore 83 lakh workers have been registered under Sambal Yojana by the state government since the scheme was launched on April 1, 2018. The registration process is ongoing. Till now, under the Labor Department scheme, benefits worth more than Rs 7 thousand 383 crore have been given in more than 7 lakh 76 thousand cases.
