MP ranks second in the country in wrong fertilizer supply, third in poor fertilizer quality, Kamal Nath raised questions on the policies and intentions of the government.
Kamal Nath has launched a scathing attack on the BJP government regarding the fertilizer crisis. He has termed it not only as a distribution disorder but also as wrong policies of the government. Citing the data presented in Parliament, he said that Madhya Pradesh stands second in the country in cases of distribution of fertilizers at wrong places and third in cases of poor quality fertilizers, which raises serious questions on the policies and intentions of the government.
The former Chief Minister has called it not a natural disaster but the result of administrative negligence and corruption. He said that due to shortage of fertilizers, farmers are troubled, crops are getting affected and debt burden is increasing but the government did not take any concrete steps in time.
Government cornered over fertilizer crisis
Kamal Nath has cornered the government on the fertilizer crisis in Madhya Pradesh and said that this problem is not a chaos but raises serious questions on the “policies and intentions” of the administration. He said, “The data presented in the Lok Sabha itself exposes the truth that in the last 9 months, 44 cases of poor quality fertilizer and 631 cases of wrong supply have been reported in the state. These figures show that the system has completely broken down and farmers are facing the biggest loss due to this.”
Kamal Nath asked questions
Questioning the action of the state government, the senior Congress leader said that out of 631 wrong supply cases, only 160 licenses were canceled and FIR was registered in only 15 cases, while no concrete action was taken against the big culprits. He said that “the government cannot escape its responsibility by taking action against small shopkeepers.” Kamal Nath also alleged that at many places, due to political pressure and pleasing influential people, fertilizers could not reach the needy areas and the real needy were sidelined.
Demand for action against the culprits
Kamal Nath said that the government will have to take full responsibility for this injustice done to the farmers and strict action should be taken against the culprits. The former Chief Minister demanded that strict action should be taken against the culprits, political patronage should be ended and the loss caused to the farmers should be compensated. He said that if this does not happen, it will become clear that the interests of farmers are being ignored in Madhya Pradesh and the government has completely failed in fulfilling its responsibility.
